Nov. 28 shopping for Angel Tree child (photo of someone giving a gift)
God wants us to do things for others. In fact, in the Bible he tells us to take care of those in need. Today we will go shopping for children whose parents need our help buying them gifts. Remember that we are buying what THESE children want, not what WE want. God likes it when we think of others.

Nov. 29 Make an Advent Wreath (a battery powered votive)
The Advent wreath is a circular garland of evergreen branches representing eternity. In that wreath, five candles are arranged. During the season of Advent, one candle on the wreath is lit each Sunday as a part of the Advent services. Each candle represents an aspect of the spiritual preparation for the coming of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Today we will decorate a white board together and place four battery powered votives on each corner. We will light one candle each week until all 4 are burning. We will place a center candle on the tile on Christmas day. When all the candles are lit, our wait will be over! Christmas will be here!
Verse of the week: John 3:16a For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son.
Supplies: Dry erase board, bell pepper (small), green acrylic paint, red acrylic paint, votive candles.
Nov. 30 Christmas music (jingle bell bracelet – one for each child)
Luke 2: 8-14 (Message) There were shepherds camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and God's glory blazed around them. They were terrified. The angel said, "Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you're to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger."
At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God's praises:
Glory to God in the heavenly heights,
Peace to all men and women on earth who please him.
God planned for a long time for Jesus’ birth. When Jesus finally was born it was a time for great joy! The angels were so happy they sang songs! During Advent, music is a special part of how we show our joy and tell about the birth of Jesus. Today we will start listening to Christmas music. We will play everyone’s favorite Christmas song!
REMINDER TO PARENT: You can reinforce this concept throughout the season whenever you listen to Christmas music.

Today Mommy and Brewer are going to ring a bell and collect money for people who don’t have places to stay or food to eat. We are going to give our time to help people that God loves.

Dec 18 Make Gingerbread Houses as a family (picture of gingerbread house)
Bethlehem was where Jesus was born. It was a small town and its name means “City of Bread.” No one really knows why it is named that, but maybe at one time the town was famous for its bread.
Over the years, people laughed a lot and did many fun things in Bethlehem. Think about David and his seven brothers, or Jesus and his brothers and sisters. I’m sure they laughed and had lots of fun there in Bethlehem. Today we are going to do something fun – make Gingerbread houses!
In John 6:35 Jesus says, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”Bread of Life is another name of God. Let’s add it to our wreath.
Name of God Day: Bread of Life

Verse of the week: Psalm 13:5 - I trust in your unfailing love.
Dec. 19 - Birthday candle (birthday candle)
In the Bible it says that Jesus is the Light of the World. What do you think that means? Is Jesus a big light bulb? Have you ever been outside when it is very dark out? Was it hard to find your way and see where you were going? That is how it is when we don't have Jesus in our hearts. We don't know where we are going and can't find our way. When you were out in the dark, what helped you see? (elicit responses) Yes, a light. A flashlight at night can be very helpful. Jesus is like that flashlight. He shows us the way to go if we keep our eyes on Him. That's why he is called the Light of the World. Today we are going to make a little candle that will help remind you to keep your eyes on Jesus.
Name of God Day: Light of the World
Verse of the week: Psalm 13:5 - I trust in your unfailing love.
**Make candle and then read the information below.
Materials: gumdrops, white Lifesavers, birthday candles, white glue, plastic knife. Procedure:
1.Place a birthday candle in the top of the gumdrop. Glue if needed.
Cut a small slit in the gumdrop with a plastic knife to make the Lifesaver go in easily.
Eat a Lifesaver and grab another (uneaten) Lifesaver to use as the handle on the gumdrop. Glue the edge of the Lifesaver that is going into the gumdrop.
White reminds me of many things. It reminds me of snow, clouds and light. Do you see this lifesaver? What color is it? (white). That lifesaver makes me think of Jesus. Did you know that he never did anything wrong? He never sinned. He is pure and Holy. Jesus was born to save the world, and this lifesaver reminds me that he is my Savior born on Christmas day.
This gumdrop reminds me of the world we live in. Have you ever eaten a gumdrop? Gumdrops are gooey and chewy. And if you leave them out of a container for awhile they get hard. That's kind of like the world. The world can seem like a happy place, but then little things creep in like anger, discontentment, and unhappiness. Pretty soon it seems like life is so hard. Jesus came into the world to give us hope. With him, the world is sweet again.
So now you have your own Jesus birthday candle to remind you that He's our hope and our Savior.
Dec. 20 Christmas Cookie Decorating at grandparents' house (cookie cutter)
Tonight we will go to Me-Maw and Paw-Paw’s house to decorate Christmas cookies. This is a tradition that even Mommy and Uncle Day-Day used to do at Christmas time. It is special to make and keep traditions at Christmas time. God loves to see us doing fun things with our family.

Luke 2:6-7 While Joseph and Mary were there, the time came for the child to be born. She gave birth to her first baby. She wrapped the baby boy in large strips of cloth. Then she placed him in a manger. There was no room for them in the inn.
Today we will color this picture of baby Jesus to remind us of his birth.
Jesus was the Son of God. This is another name for our wreath.
Name of God Day: Son of God
Verse of the week: Psalm 13:5 - I trust in your unfailing love.
Dec. 22 book The Very Special Visitors (pic of the wise men)
Who were the special visitors that visited Jesus in the stable? What did they follow to find him? Today we are going to read a book to tell us this story. You will hear a lot about presents, trees, Santa, toys, during Christmas. But the real reason of Christmas is the story of Jesus. We celebrate Christmas in December to remind us of Jesus’ birthday.
Verse of the week: Psalm 13:5 - I trust in your unfailing love.
